I am so thankful for great friends that ask me to take their family photos year after year - it is such an honor and a privilege to be able to take this family's photos - the kids are amazing and the parents just are wonderful. despite the rain, we were even able to step outside for a few family shots! looking forward to sharing the rest of the photos, until then...enjoy!

Welcome Elise

a new baby - elise. a fun big brother - evan. a beautiful family - mellissa + terry. the Christmas excitement - of course. all these things make for a wonderful opportunity to capture first details and moments to cherish. I had the honor of meeting this family today and am super excited to be meeting them again as the kids grow! what a great gift. have I mentioned before that I love what I do?!

two beautiful girls

the girls are simply gorgeous. and the love they have is amazing. I  had the pleasure of spending time with this great family the day after thanksgiving and it was a reminder of the many things to be thankful for! new babies. snowflakes (yes, it snowed today...) and working with families, which I adore! looking forward to editing the session to share!

a perfect afternoon...

this afternoon's photo session - in November - in Michigan - was 60 degrees, with PERFECT natural light. The family was amazing. The girl's are gorgeous. The spirit of play with alive. The location I am in love with. Really, it was the perfect afternoon. I love it when I get to come home and go through the images. There is always a little present of a photo that I was not sure of...but end up loving!

18 months of fun!

Little brother is 18+ months now, and mom had the forethought to take care of Christmas photos AND his milestone photos at once. Go mom. :) We had a blast, big brother too. The cold temperatures changed our plans from outdoors to inside at the last minute - but some quick creative thinking brought a fun, fantastic shoot together! One of my favorites. :)

this family makes me smile. not only because they are simply great to be around, but they are also family! Oh - and the little man, he just turned ONE! Happy Birthday.

rain rain go away!

as the old chant goes: "rain rain go away, come again another day..." I owe a huge thanks to Mother Nature for listening and giving me not only one session that dogged the drops today, but TWO fun, fantastic sessions! this afternoon we met at Kensington to capture a wonderful family - the kids were awesome and the parents had some fun too! Amazingly, the rain stopped as we met and started just as we finished. Couldn't have been more perfect. Loved the light today too!

we made an early outing to beat the rain and it worked! the kids were great, the colors were perfect and we had a great (though chilly) morning at Cranbrook. I love this time of year, and I love this family!!

Class of 2013: Mike

I love senior sessions - hearing about what the student enjoys and is looking forward too - their future inspires me! Despite the rain, that seemed to ONLY be raining wherever we were, we had a great session! Love the start of fall colors popping in too.

a beautiful family gathered together to celebrate Grandma's 90th birthday - and what a grand celebration it was! here are just a few of the photos today...the rest to come soon! Can't wait to get to them :) We all laughed and played the afternoon away....

down on the farm

today was a perfect day to go play at Kensington Farm! Fall was in the air and the boys here had so much energy that being outside was a perfect complement to their fantastic personalities.

We had so much fun playing on the streets (well, sidewalks) of Royal Oak and at the Detroit Zoo (note to self, the zoo opens at 10 after labor day!) Julia's amazing personality was amazing to see, as the first time I met this wonderful family was at Julia's newborn session...3 years ago!

professional photography

new interest means I can really check something I have been meaning to do off my list - today that is some examples of head shots for both professionals and seniors, after all, seniors are on their way to be professionals. I love to take photos of people that help celebrate their personality, totally custom and unique to the individual. I strive to portray professionalism, while not being stuffy. Of course, I can take photos to be used in a yearbook format, please just provide them to me at the time of the reservation.

10 on 10: September

with all that has been going on in our home recently, today's 10 on 10 totally caught me off guard (even though I have it on my calendar!) so thanks to sesame ellis' blog post I had the fun reminder before I even got out of bed and was inspired (again) by her amazing work.
